Michel Sourgnes was a curator in France (to 1979), director, Mildura Arts Centre (1980 - 84) and foundation curator, contemporary Australian Art, including Aboriginal Art at the Queensland Art Gallery.

He established his Gallery in 1994, specialising in Australian Contemporary Art and is an approved valuer, Cultural Heritage to the Commonwealth Government for:

- Australian paintings, sculpture and prints after 1960.
- Contemporary Aboriginal Art.
- French paintings, sculpture, prints, furniture and decorative arts 1600 - 1950.
